1994-2002[]

Starz ID 1994-2002

ID: When the logo starts, it looks like it is taking place at a theater. We see the Starz logo in gold with it being dark in the front of it. Then, it cuts to a pedestal with the text 'encore 8' going around it in a circle with a number 8 on top of the pedestal. The light on the pedestal turns on. The light in front of the Starz logo turned on. Then it cuts to swirls going around the poles that support the theater. It cuts to the seats of the theater opening. Then it cuts to a normal star cutting into another star which makes the Starz symbol. Then finally, it cuts back to the Starz logo but now it has the text 'encore 8' going around the starz symbol.

Variants:

  • After the sequence, the slogan text "#1 IN NEW HIT MOVIES" appears below with the disclaimer underneath.
  • Sometimes, a shortened version of the ID was used.

FX/SFX: Everything. Animated by Pittard Sullivan (now known as Troika Design Group).

Music/Sounds: A breathtaking synth fanfare with sounds, which ends with a flourish and three notes at the end.

Music/Sounds/Voiceover Variants:

  • An announcer (Beau Weaver) says "Starz! Number one in new hit movies!".
  • In some cases, on the short version, Weaver also states "You're watching Starz! Number one in new hit movies!".

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: This bumper is well-remembered by those who grew up watching Starz in its infancy.

2002-2005[]

Starz Ident 2002-2005

ID: On a yellow sky background, we see the tiny "STARZ!" text in the center of the screen, as it disappears. Meanwhile, the water sprays and brings forth the same star symbol from the previous logo, spinning around and easing back from the viewers. A river appears below, and as that happens, the black word "STARZ" in the same font from before rises from the water, and a splash creates an exclamation point next to it as the star settles on top of the text. The logo slowly then rotates as it finishes.

FX/SFX: Everything in CGI. Animated by At the Post.

Music/Sounds: An orchestral piece which ends with a 6-note triumphant brass fanfare.

Availability: Extinct. Only found on 2002-2005 Starz airings.

Editor's Note: The ID itself was a memorable moment, but this network bumper was retired in 2005 before the rebranding of the then-new logo.

Final Note: This was the last Starz ID to use an exclamation point in the channel name, though a star was still used in some capacity on future logos for the next thirteen years.

2005-2008[]

ID: A blue shooting star is flying through the city of New York during the night. Then the camera zooms to the skyline of the city. Finally, the shooting star stops into place on the top-right part of the screen. Then the 'starz' text fades in as the camera is zooming out of the skyline.

FX/SFX: The shooting star passing by, the animation the star stopping into place and the camera zooming.

Music/Sounds: An orchestral tune, with the last note held out until the end of the ident.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: This ident is well-remembered by those who grew up watching all movies aired on the premium network itself during its infancy.

2008-2011[]

STARZ PRSTILL 0041

ID: It starts to show clips of buildings, hills and trees. But when the cilp of the trees start to begin the sun flashes in the camera revealing the starz logo. If it's a different Starz channel, it will have the corresponding channel text below the Starz logo.

FX/SFX: A mix of both live-action and CGI.

Music/Sounds: A relaxing, mellow pop tune.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: This ident was abruptly retired in 2011 before an on-screen refresh being made.

2011-2013[]

Starz ID (2011-2013)

ID: We see the city buildings with light shining against them, then it proceeds into a "dazzling" effect as we go into a further distance. Also, we even see a somewhat busy traffic road with cars and trucks moving about as well as the "sparkles" shining, a fancy, glittery dress and other assorted objects and a windshield of the car. The close-up shot of the woman's feet in her high-heeled shoes walking about it also shown, then it ends up watching the "sparkles" rising about forming the same 2008 Starz logo from before, rotating and zooming out from the viewers.

FX/SFX: Depending on the variant.

Music/Sounds: A rock theme with a repeating 8-note piano riff.

Availability: Extinct. Only found on 2011-2013 Starz airings.

Editor's Note: This bumper has been considered memorable by most viewers, before its on-screen refresh in 2013.

2013-2016[]

Starz ID (2013-present)

ID: Over a background of crystallized effects, the lines transform into flowers, which morphs into the same 2008 Starz logo from before as it slowly eases back from the viewers. The slogan "TAKING YOU PLACES" appears below the logo. Sometimes, the corresponding channel text can be shown below the Starz logo.

FX/SFX: The transformation from the flowers to the Starz logo.

Music/Sounds: A brief gust of wind, and a mellow crescendo tune.

Availability: Extinct. Only found on 2013-2016 Starz airings.

Editor's Note: The 2013 ident has been well-remembered by those who watched Starz programs, before the rebranding began on April of 2016.

2016-2022[]

ID: Same as the 2016 Starz Originals logo. If it's a different Starz channel it will have the corresponding channel text below the Starz logo.

FX/SFX: Same as the 2016 Starz Originals logo.

Music/Sounds: The then-current Starz jingle.

Availability: Extinct. Besides being aired on the network itself, it can also be seen on Amazon Prime Video prints of some movie trailers, such as Eye of the Beholder, Irrational Man, High Plains Drifter, Stealing Harvard, and Vertigo.

Editor's Note: The 2016 logo was retired, as Lionsgate (the parent company of the network itself) announced that a brand new logo was made on the fall of 2022.

2022-present[]

ID: Against a teal, crystalized background, we see the new Starz logo, slightly blurred. A crystal passes the screen, revealing the Starz logo, with a yellow/teal gradient. The corresponding channel name is included below the logo.

FX/SFX: Astounding CGI, based upon the 2022 Starz Originals logo.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 2022 Starz Originals logo.

Availability: Current. Seen on Starz airings as of 2022.

Editor's Note: A massive improvement over the 2016 logo.
