See the clip-on library page for the description.

May 27, 1992-2009

English version (U.S. & Canada)

Bumper: We fade into a footage of a still or animating scene of a Disney movie or a music video. As it starts playing, one of the two texts ("Join Us After The Feature" or "Stay Tuned After The Feature") fades in at the bottom of the screen, or occasionally, a variety of different texts could fade in ("After The Movie", "After The Program", "Please Stay Tuned", "Join Us After The Movie", "Premiering After The Movie", "Coming Up After The Movie", "Join Us After The Program," "Join Us After The Show," or "Check Out The Music Video!").

Variants:

  • On the 1998 WDMC VHS release of The Little Mermaid, this bumper is not shown. Instead, after we see a special Feature Presentation bumper created specifically for the release, before fading away to the home video variant of the THX "Broadway" logo, Jodi Benson (as part of the filler at the start of the VHS where she converses with her CGI pet goldfish, Gil and Phil) reminds the audience "And don't forget to stay tuned after the movie for the music video, 'Part of Your World'!".
  • There exist some early textless variants that are displayed in the closing credits of each movie from 1992-1999. They can be found on Father of the Bride (Version #1), Winnie The Pooh: Playtime and Learning Collection, Ariel's Undersea Adventures, Adventures in Wonderland, Winnie The Pooh and Christmas TooDisney's Sing Along Songs: Disney's The Twelve Days of ChristmasThe Brave Little Toaster (1998 print), The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, Winnie The Pooh: Sing a Song with Pooh Bear, Doug's 1st Movie, Fraggle Rock (Volumes 1-5), Mulan (Version #1), Disney's Sing Along Songs: Aladdin: Friend Like Me and Disney's Sing Along Songs: Snow White: Heigh-Ho. Another variant like this is found on the 1992 WDC VHS release of 101 Dalmatians (later pressings only), where it's displayed over the film's custom Buena Vista logo at the end. (On early pressings, the logo is silent, and no previews follow.)
  • A variant happens on DVDs with Disney's Fast Play (from 2004-2008) where text is displayed during the credits saying, "Stay tuned after the credits for a selection of bonus features to play automatically." during the middle of the end credits.
  • A French-Canadian variant of this bumper exists and is described below.
  • A Spanish variant of The Sixth Sense bumper exists.
  • The Scream 2 variant starts out still, but then shows clips from the movie after the announcement.

FX/SFX: None for the 1992-1999 and 1997-1999 variants, but the 1999-2006 and Gargoyles variants are animated.

Music/Sounds/Voiceover: The music playing in the background is either a string theme (a sample of "The Spirit of Adventure" from the Cavendish Music Library), parts of the movie's soundtrack, generic music relating to the movie or music from a following featurette or a music video or the end credits theme. Beau Weaver, Brian Cummings, Tom Kane, Mark Elliot, Jim Cummings, John Fiedler, Jay Kulick an unknown deep-voiced announcer, or a female announcer say the following:

Availability: Common. It can be found on the 1997 WDMC video releases of Bambi, Fun & Fancy Free, Sleeping Beauty and The Jungle Book, the 1998 WDMC VHS prints of Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp, the 1999 60th Anniversary VHS print of Pinocchio, various Gold Classic Collection tapes, and other VHS releases from this time period. This bumper debuted on the original 1992 VHS releases of Father of the Bride and One Hundred and One Dalmatians (subsequent copies of the former and early copies of the latter contain only the film) and made its final appearances on various Baby Einstein DVDs from 2005-09. The DVD counterparts (usually) put the special feature with the rest of the special features on the DVD. The Fastplay variant is seen during the credits of Fastplay DVDs from the era.

Editor's Notes: This bumper's longevity allowed it to spawn numerous variations over the years.

  • On both VHS editions of Pearl Harbor, the closed captions allow portions of both programs being described instead of the narrator's.

1st Bumper (Early 1991)

Stay Tuned Logo 1990

Bumper: On a black background, the gold and shiny words "STAY TUNED" are seen in a Rockwell font.

Trivia: Interestingly, not only does this have an American-sounding announcer, but it happens to Brian Cummings, whose voiceover here (mentioned below) was shortened for use in a couple of American IDs. Cummings would also perform the voiceover for another stay tuned bumper on the 1994 South Korean VHS release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

FX/SFX: A shine going across the text.

Music/Sounds: None, except Brian Cummings saying "Stay tuned after our feature, for a look at other great titles available from Walt Disney Home Video." After that, there's three seconds of silence before the bumper fades out.

Availability: Rare; as of now, it can be seen only on the 1991 UK VHS release of Ducktales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp.

Editor’s Note: As previously mentioned, this stay tuned bumper is noteworthy for containing an American-sounding announcer on a British VHS release of a Disney movie. This led to various YouTube accounts creating their own 1991 VHS openings of Disney films that would include this stay tuned bumper and then WDSHE’s 1989-92 Feature Presentation bumper, as described here.
