1st Bumper (1994-March 14, 2006)Edit

ID: On a black background, we see the large text (with a drop shadow) "This Film Has Been Modified From Its Original Version. It Has Been Formatted To Fit This Screen."

Variants:

  • On the 1998 DVD of Wag the Dog, there's no drop shadow and the bumper cuts in and out.
  • On the 1998 DVD of The Wedding Singer, the bumper cuts right to the New Line Cinema logo.
  • Starting in 2001, the font has been changed.

FX/SFX: A mere fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon. Seen on New Line VHS tapes such as Rumble in the Bronx, Friday, Rush Hour, The Little Vampire, and A History of Violence (on which it made its final appearance). Also seen on the fullscreen sides of double-sided New Line DVDs save for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).

Scare Factor: None.
