New Line Home Entertainment modified screen

Modified Screen: On a black background, we see the large text (with a drop shadow) "This Film Has Been Modified From Its Original Version. It Has Been Formatted To Fit This Screen."


  • On the DVDs of Wag the Dog and The Notebook, there's no drop shadow.
  • Starting in 2001, the font has been changed.

FX/SFX: A mere fade-in and fade-out.

Availability: Uncommon. Seen on New Line VHS tapes such as Rumble in the Bronx, Friday, Rush Hour, The Little Vampire, and A History of Violence (on which it made its final appearance). Also seen on the fullscreen sides of double-sided New Line DVDs save for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).
