1st Bumper (1994-June 3, 2008)Edit

ID: On a black background, we see the large text (with a drop shadow) "This Film Has Been Modified From Its Original Version. It Has Been Formatted To Fit This Screen."

Variants:

  • On the DVDs of Wag the Dog and The Notebook, there's no drop shadow.
  • On the 1998 DVD of The Wedding Singer, the bumper cuts right to the New Line Cinema logo.
  • Starting in 2001, the font has been changed.

FX/SFX: A mere fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon. Seen on New Line VHS tapes such as Rumble in the Bronx, Friday, Rush Hour, The Little Vampire, and A History of Violence (on which it made its final appearance). Also seen on the fullscreen sides of double-sided New Line DVDs save for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). The last DVD to use this bumper was Semi-Pro (R-Rated Edition, in widescreen and fullscreen).

Scare Factor: None.

2nd Bumper (2008-09)Edit

ID: Same as the Warner Home Video modified screen.

FX/SFX: Same as the WHV modified screen.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on the fullscreen sides of double-sided New Line DVDs distributed by Warner Bros., such as Inkheart. On single-sided releases with both widescreen and fullscreen versions on the same disc, this appears on Appaloosa.

Scare Factor: None.
