1987-1992[]

Turner Warning 1980s

Warning: Almost the same as the 1982 MGM/UA Home Video warning, except there's only one underline on "WARNING," no fades on top and bottom, the text is in a different font, and warning text is rearranged to the center.

FX/SFX: The scrolling.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on pre-1992 Turner Home Entertainment releases. Also seen on Nova Home Video and Morningstar Entertainment Inc. releases.

1992-1997; 1999[]

Nicknames: "White FBI", "Odd FBI", "Freaky FBI"

Warning: Same as the 1990 Hanna-Barbera Home Video warning.

Variants:

  • On the 1992 VHS of Crucifer of Blood, the warning cuts in and out.
  • On Cartoon Network VHS releases, the square and text are white and are on a green/red checkerboard background. Sometimes, it's black and white.
    • A variant with the warning superimposed over the gray/dark blue checkered background with cobwebs that's used in the bumpers from the era has been spotted on the 1996 VHS releases of Classic Scooby-Doo: Which Witch Is Which?, Blockbuster for Kids: Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo in Arabian Nights, Classic Scooby-Doo: Scooby-Doo and a Mummy Too, Classic Scooby-Doo: Foul Play in Funland, and Classic Scooby-Doo: A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts.
    • Another variant exists on the 1996 VHS releases of Classic Scooby-Doo: A Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle, Classic Scooby-Doo: Headless Horseman of Halloween, The Flintstones: A Haunted House is Not a Home, and The Halloween Tree, where the warning is set over a light purple marbled background.
    • On the 1997 VHS releases of The Flintstones: I Yabba-Dabba-Do!, The Flintstones: Love Letters on the Rocks, Yogi Bear: Love Bugged Bear, Yogi the Easter Bear, and Scooby-Doo's Wedding Bell Boos, the checkerboard is colored green/purple, and Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole are positioned on the lower-right corner.
  • On some releases, the word "Warning:" is mostly lowercased, the text is aligned differently, the "$250,000 fine" text replaces the "Title 17" text, and there is additional text below the warning saying "Institutional public performance rights are included with the purchase of this video." This variation was also used by WGBH Boston Video as well.
    • On Turner Classic Movies releases, there's no square for "FBI" and the seal, "Warning:" and "Institutional public performance rights are included with the purchase of this video." are missing, and the text is in black, placed upon a piece of brown paper with various poster designs around it.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Music/Sounds Variant: The TCM variant uses the opening music from Bringing Up Baby.

Availability: Seen on post-1992 releases from Turner Home Entertainment (including PBS Home Entertainment, Golf Channel and Hanna-Barbera Home Video), as well as Columbia TriStar Home Video co-releases with Castle Rock Entertainment. The 1998-99 Warner Home Video reissues of Citizen Kane are recycled from the 1996 Turner video master with added Warner Bros. materials (the 75th Anniversary promo on the TCM Video prints; their FBI warning, the Century Collection promo, and the WHV logo on the '99 pressing), and as such this warning is retained after the WHV content.

Editor's Note: Same as the 1990 Hanna-Barbera Home Video warning.
